Granted a license by King James I to distill in 1608, Bushmills is the oldest licensed whiskey distillery in the world. In 1784, the Old Bushmills Distillery became official. Hugh Anderson registered the Old Bushmills Distillery and the Pot Still became its registered trade mark. It is still the distillery's mark of genuine distinction today. Located in Bushmills, County Antrim, Northern Ireland, Bushmills Distillery uses water drawn from Saint Columb's Rill, which is a tributary of the River Bush.
Over 400 years later, whiskey is still being made in Bushmills, thanks to experience & craft passed down from generation to generation.
The Bushmills 30 Year Old has been aged in hand-selected bourbon barrels, oloroso sherry casks and Pedro Ximénez sherry casks, creating a powerful and uniquely complex flavor profile, a richness that can only be achieved by 30 years in barrel.
Triple-distilled from 100% malted barley, the inaugural release of the Bushmills 30 Year Old was first aged in hand-selected bourbon barrels and oloroso sherry butts for 14 years along the cold north coast of Ireland. The whiskey was then married and further aged in Pedro Ximénez sherry casks for 14 years, casks that were seasoned for 2 years in Jerez’s precious fortified wine.
Nose: Rich inviting sweet aromas of raisins, figs, prunes, and dates entwined with treacle toffee, soft clove and sweet spice delighted the senses.
Taste: Exquisite, velvety and smooth mouth feel. Sweet hints of dates, raisins and figs followed by praline and orange peel before developing into vanilla and warm pastry notes. A truly delightful experience for the palate.
Finish: Long complex finish that reminds you of the amazing number of years this whiskey has spent gaining its individual character. The dried fruit and toffee sweet notes are left lingering. The elegance and refinement of this exquisite single is enticing and demands a second sip.
